Scientists from the Nice University Hospital and the IHU Méditerranée Infection in Marseille therefore carried out a series of experiments. The objective: to compare the effectiveness of different products against bedbugs. The research was undertaken under the direction of Dr. Pascal Delaunay.
In addition to Sommières earth, different products were tested. On the one hand, everyday products, including talc, green clay and baking soda. On the other hand, products used by professionals such as diatomaceous earth were then tested. Their effects on bedbugs were then compared.
Sommières earth stood out by a wide margin. This proved effective against these resistant insects.
The results of the study
The remarkable absorption capacity of Sommières earth was confirmed during the research. Thanks to this property, bedbugs die in 24 to 48 hours. An infected insect can then transmit the contamination to its peers. Eradication is all the more effective. If we are to believe the results of the study, the effectiveness of the treatment would be around 75 to 100%.
While Sommières earth is formidable against bedbugs, it is harmless to humans and animals. This is not the case for certain products such as diatomaceous earth. The latter is harmful to the lungs.
How to use Sommières earth?
Sommières earth is easy to use. In practice, you just need to sprinkle it on all the areas that could be infested. Dr. Pascal Delaunay, the leader of the aforementioned study, recommends focusing on bed bases.
It should be noted that Sommières earth does not leave any harmful residue. This is reassuring when there are children or animals at home. It should also be noted that other measures must be taken at the same time. In particular, bedding and clothing must be cleaned at a high temperature (60°C).
A useful product for treating bedbugs
Based on the results of this French study, Sommières earth would be a promising solution for getting rid of bedbugs.
